Dear Reader,
Nothing of note has happened this week. I have gone grocery shopping and done laundry and even managed to write some words. And because describing all of that in detail would be unforgivably boring, instead I'm going to share seven random facts you might not know about me.
1. I'm pretty tall. My last doctor's visit measured me at 5'11". There are days I wish I was shorter, especially when my knees are pressed up against the seat in front of me on a long international flight. But most of the time I'm happy to be the person others ask to reach the high shelves.
2. I love card games. One of my favorite teenage memories is of being invited into a poker game by a bunch of guys who were looking for an easy mark. I took their money and went shoe shopping.
3. I'm from the land down under. Though I spent most of the last six years living in the US and am currently living in the UK, I will always call Australia home.
4. I have an... unusual accent. I've been asked if I'm British, Canadian, Swedish, South African, and on one memorable occasion Singaporean. The only place that never seems to come up is the place I'm actually from. I blame Crocodile Dundee.
5. My favorite tea is Countess Grey from Fortnum and Mason's. I'm not saying that's why I moved to England, but it was a factor.
6. On a similar note, I don't really drink coffee. I've always love the smell but it tastes vile to me. If you see me with a Starbucks cup, it's probably a chai latte.
7. I'm a travel junkie. I love visiting new places and seeing the way different people live. But if you ask me my favorite thing about travel, it's always the food. I'm a food tourist, first and foremost. From a reluctant bite of steamed maggots wrapped in palm leaves in the Amazon to the pistachio and dark chocolate pain
russe in Paris, I'll try anything at least once.
