Dear Reader,
I had a strange experience this week. I had my first brush with online... rumor? Gossip? Misinformation? I'm not quite sure what to call it.
Someone left a comment on one of my social media posts. They asked if it was true that my books had no epilogues?
I was surprised, because if this person had read any of my books they'd know my stories do contain a coda that shows the main couple living out their HEA. It's the last chapter. I don't call them
epilogues because they feel like an essential part of the story to me.
But I checked it out and there is a review on
GoodReads that says I'm deliberately withholding epilogues in order to manipulate readers into signing up for my newsletter. Which was not an interpretation I'd foreseen when I decided to write a handful of cute little engagement stories as a thank you to you guys for staying in touch.
Honestly, I got the giggles.
Because the idea that my books are popular enough that this kind of rumor got started is actually a little exciting. It's also a valuable lesson in labeling things correctly! I mean, my bad for calling them Special Engagement Epilogues instead of Bonus Engagement Short Stories, I guess?
In any case, I'm going to make sure I relabel the Special Engagement Epilogues going forward. After I finish sitting in a quiet corner of my writer cave and thinking about what I've done, of course! 😉😂
