I'm 🎶'All By Myself'🎶 this week

Dear Reader,

My friend, fellow writer, and person I share an office with Ms Melinda is away on a roadtrip for the next couple of weeks. The cats are visibly upset and I'm feeling her absence too.

But You Are My Favorite Bad Idea has an editing due date that is rushing toward me like an oncoming train, so onward and upward must go the word count.

But as I plow toward that deadline, I forget Ms Melinda is gone at least half a dozen times a day. I catch myself looking up to ask her if a certain sentence makes sense or if I'm allowed such-and-such a word.

(Ms Melinda is my American alpha reader. She stops most of my characters sounding too British or Australian--though I do have a British character in YAMFBI so I do get to unleash all my frustrated British-isms through him!)

But missing my work buddy is no excuse for missing a due date. As I'm sure my editor would agree. (Not that she will ever know we've had this conversation because I am making this deadline, damn it!)

So in the spirit of getting my words done, I'm keeping this update short and sweet. Hope you're having a great week!

BOOK NEWS

Like I said above, You Are My Favorite Bad Idea is inching toward the crunchy side of my deadline. I'm not worried. I'm definitely not starting to panic. Totally cool, calm, and collected over here.

*I reach up to tug at my collar only to realize I'm wearing a tank top.*

That would have been a terrible waste of time when I'm getting so close to my deadline...
