Dear Reader,Â
Â
We're all familiar with blackouts, right? Normally there's a storm or something going on outside, the lights flicker ominously
before plunging into total darkness taking TV and wifi signal with them. It's typically a shrug things-will-be-back-to-normal-soon event.
Â
That's not what happened this time.
Â
Let me set the scene: it was a clear, high-blue sky
kind of day. There had been rain the night before (because I live in Florida where rain is a given). But all of a sudden there was a low deep FWUUUM and all the power went out.
Â
The power going out is semi-regular event, but that FWUUUM is most definitely not.
Â
I went charging outside only to find half of the neighborhood had the same idea. Smoke was pouring out of a transformer halfway down the street. A bunch of us gathered around to exchange our opinions on how well the city was maintaining the local infrastructure as we watched a truck of fireman roll up.
Â
If you're assuming we
were mostly women and we were eyeing up those fireman like a bunch of shameless hussies, well... What can I say? 😂 You clearly have a keen insight into human nature.
Â
The firemen were hot, the power was eventually restored, and we all lived air-conditioning-ly ever after. Â
