I'm alive (& there's a cover reveal coming soon!)

Dear Reader,

So I fell off a cliff at the end of last year. It was a weird combination of the relief of finishing You Are My Favorite Bad Idea (I know! I can't believe it either!!! The cover reveal is coming next week!), flying back home to Sydney, my brother's wedding, all the holiday season parties and spending every second I could manage with my two gorgeous nieces.

Though they're not that little anymore! They're eleven & nine respectively and are getting so tall. *insert pride/why-are-you-growing-up-so-fast??? despair here*

Had the best time with them and I'm missing them so much!

Then I capped off the trip with a spot of hernia repair surgery. (I feel approximately one million years old as I confess that. When did hernias become a think I had tor worry about?)

It's been an intense six weeks.

But I got off the plane last night and I'm ready to get back to writing! (At least as soon as I get over the jet lag.)

BOOK NEWS

Astute readers who paid close attention to this section could probably sense the stress in my words at the end of Iast year. I expected You Are My Favorite Bad Idea to end up around 100,000 words, instead it ended up a bouncing 153,000. That's also known as 50% over its word budget.

They're good words. Necessary words I think you'll really like. It's just... I hadn't planned for them! And for while there at the end it felt like I was trapped in the garbage compactor room from Star Wars and the walls were closing in.

I ended up finishing You Are My Favorite Bad Idea on the plane as I was going home for Christmas. Turns out that a twenty-four hour flight to Australia is a great place to panic write the end of a novel. Who knew?

The book that wouldn't end is currently with my editor (and let us all hope that ending I wrote at 40,000 feet was as awesome as I thought it was at the time.) I'll have a cover reveal and tentative release date for you next week!

I love watching mindless action flicks on planes. Saw Meg 2 and Fast and Furious X on the flight home and they were both a physics-defyingly, utterly implausible good time.
