For everyone else, sit back and buckle up because this has been a bumpy ride!
Â
Typically my life is very quiet. I get up, go to work in my home office, wrangle with imaginary people,
stop for the occasional meal, and do the even more occasional batch of laundry. So far, so normal.
Â
By contrast, this week has been a five alarm fire. Here are the things that have happened, in no particular order:
- Amazon cancelled my pre-order. There was a file uploaded, but I went to change it out with a
newer shinier version and poof pre-order was gone. Cue panicked emailing back and forth with the 'Zon staff to get it back up and/or get my right to future pre-orders back. (Did you know that if an author misses their pre-order date they are blacklisted?) I have been un-blacklisted, but there was nothing to be done about all the pre-orders. Once a book listing slips into the abyss it is gone-gone. Thank you to everyone who did pre-order, and I'm so sorry.Â
- The file for the book corrupted. In a now-even-greater rush to get You Are My Favorite Bad Idea to the finish line, I accidentally opened the file in two places and over-wrote the document with an older version. Cue total and utter tears and panic meltdown as two weeks of work vanished before my horrified eyes. (I eventually managed to recover an uncorrupted document from an iCloud backup. Thanks be to all
digital backups forever and always.)Â
- I uploaded the final file to Amazon! At least I'm pretty, almost-entirely sure that's what it was and that's what I did. If there are any typos or missing words or entire story chunks absent, I am so sorry and please let me know!!! I did double check it before posting, but I think I was hallucinating words after all of the above and my checks may not be entirely trustworthy. I've sent the file off to
another proof reader to have it triple checked.
- The bottom fell off my shoe. Having waded through the fire of the above my friend Ms Melinda and I went out to celebrate. I took the time to fluff up my hair, put on make up and some pretty clothes, only as I walked into the restaurant the sole of my shoe--my new, almost never worn, nice shoe-- literally peeled off. (Seriously, the whole thing. See photo below.) I laughed so hard I nearly fell
over. Because it has definitely been that kind of week.
Â
Long story short: You Are My Favorite Bad Idea is now live on Amazon!!!Â
