Cozy book rec 😍 & serious bed head 😱

Dear Reader,

First, a big thank you to all of you who wrote back to last week's newsletter! Expect a big announcement in the not too distant future 😉

Aside from vague mysterious authorial promises, I also have a book rec!

The book is Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson. It's a sweet fantasy romance, that is also a cozy pirate tale. I don't think I've ever read anything quite like it before.

It's a warm hug of a story that made me feel better about humanity after I finished. Reading it felt a little like being inside the fantasy pirate version of Ted Lasso.

For those of you who don't mind a bit of fantasy in your romance, I highly, highly recommend it! It's a whimsical, beautifully written book that reminded me of the Princess Bride.

Aside from being a romance, it's also a wonderful story about friendship and bravery and the power of kindness.

BOOK NEWS

Project Candlelight had made major progress this week. We are in the midst of a very exciting chapter that has made my writing-buddy and alpha reader Ms Melinda yell at me to, "Finish the damn scene already!"

I have always found being yelled at by a reader one of the highest forms of compliment 😂

Favorite line from the most recent chapter:

It the kind of sound that crawled in through the ear and clawed its way into the deepest pit of the belly where all primal, mind-killing fears lived.

The shock of it vibrated through my bones flooding my mouth the metallic taste of panic.

THROWBACK THURSDAY PIC

As this book has a talking animal companion, I thought it was only fair to bring Mystic in as the book's ambassador.

When I put the book in her bed, she glared at me for a single sleepy moment.

Then she went straight back to sleep and would not open her eyes or look at the camera despite how many times I called her name.
