Dear Reader,
This week, I bought a desk chair! 🍾🪑🎉 Yay, hallelujah and let's break out the confetti!
I know this may not seem like a particularly big deal, but this chair is the culmination of weeks of research, several daunting trips to various furniture stores, and a lot--and I do mean A LOT--of second guessing.
I've previously been working in a very
pretty velvet blue club chair. Which was comfortable and supportive enough when I bought it three years ago. But as it turns out decorative chairs don't stay comfortable and supportive for that long.
Who knew that was one of the hidden perils of being seduced by sinfully soft blue velvet and a luxuriously tufted back?
So this time, I decided to buy a proper desk chair. A real, good for the posture, ergonomically-designed chair.
And for those of you who are--fortunately for you--unfamiliar with the perils of desk chair purchasing, let me fill you in. A good desk
chair is an investment piece. By which I mean: they be spendy. As in you could probably buy a decent used car for the same amount of money. Which 👀 was a real eye-opener for me.
I'm all for investing in furniture, especially a work chair where I'll spent a good 8+ hours a day writing my stories. But when I've spent this much time, brainpower, and cash on
picking out a piece of furniture....I really want to be sure I've picked the right one.
And is there anything as likely to instill overthinking and doubt than really wanting to make the right choice?
