Â
Dear Reader,
Â
I'm getting ready to go on a road trip with my marvelous friend, Miss Melinda. Her husband is going on a work trip, so we're tagging along and turning it into a mini-vacation. Highlights are going to include: Ringling Museum of Art, Sand Key Park, the Bird Gardens of Naples, and probably a
couple of escape rooms.Â
Â
So expect pictures galore next week đ
Â
In the meantime, have a picture of Her Furriness, Melinda's cat. Seen here suspecting that we are leaving and emphatically withholding her royal permission.
Â
Â
And for my rec of the week, I'm going with a fabulous old rom-com I rewatched recently. And if you've already seen it, you'll recognize this image...
Â
Â
The Bachelor (1999) stars Chris O'Donnell and Renée Zellweger (btw I've totally forgotten their character names so I'm just going to call them Chris and Renée). The premise is simple, Chris's grandfather dies, leaving him a $100 million dollar estate conditional on him being married by his 30th birthday. Despite some lingering commitment-phobia, Chris decides to propose to
his long-time girlfriend, RenĂ©e. Â
Â
Simple enough you'd think? But the path to true love never does run smooth. Nor does the path to 100 million buckaroos.
Â
Chris, in a fit of truly horrendous decision making, decides not to tell RenĂ©e about the money. (Because nothing repulses a woman more than learning her boyfriend is about to become a multi-millionaire, right? đ) Then he makes the most gloriously awful proposal I have ever seen. Seriously, it's laugh out loud terrible. The phrase "Shit or get off the pot" is used. Â
Â
Then the usual romantic shenanigans ensue, everything sorts itself out in an epic bridal chase scene, and a good time is had by all. I laughed until I cried.Â
Â
Anyone else seen any good rom-coms recently?
Â
XoXo,
Edwina

BOOK NEWS
Â
This week I've been plotting and planning. I'm going to start writing The Quiet Prince, book three in The Princes of
Manhattan series, as soon as I get back from the road trip. And so far this book has involved learning a shocking amount about the pharmaceutical industry. It's going to be a laboratory-based, second chance romance and I want to make sure I get the chemistry exactly right. (Did you get
the pun? Did you groan?)
Â
And, eek, The Ice Prince is almost a month away from launching. You can get it on pre-order for $2.99 right now. This is a special price for the eagle-eyed early bird and will go up to the regular $4.99 price three days after it's released. So remember to pre-order your copy before time runs
out!
